Formulation and evaluation of projects

When we want to put a new idea into practice, we say that we are going to launch a new project, but what do we call a project? Well, we say that a set of well-organized actions which are carried out during a certain period of time, it responds to a problem or a demand. The projects are tools that have a long term and that are carried out thinking in the future. We must point out that there are a large number of categories among the projects where social projects and community projects stand out, since these are distinguished by the fact that they deal with problems and inconveniences that come from within the community.

We must bear in mind that the realization of a project implies effective and positive change, this in what has to do with an initial situation that we can see with a successful future. But to carry out any project we take into account that this has two stages that must be fulfilled to say that the project was completely carried out.

The stages that the project must fulfill are:

  • Formulation of the project
  • Project evaluation

The formulation: This is the main stage of a project, because this is where the design and other options of the project are worked, which means that it has a great number of possibilities to achieve the objectives set in the project and solve the problems that caused the beginning of it.

By means of the formulation, the process is directed in the correct way to produce and regulate all the information it has in the most appropriate way, in order to have favorable results and to continue to progress with great efficiency.

The evaluation: it is the process that allows to review in detail all the results obtained in this project, to know how positive it was and to value the effort made. For the evaluation the objectives proposed at the beginning of the project are used as a key guide, this to know if they were met at the expected level. In this step it is about consolidating the participation of all the people involved and at the same time reflecting on the changes made in the project to improve it in the long term, at the same time to make decisions that are of benefit and lead us to constant improvement .

We must bear in mind that the formulation and evaluation are interdependent processes, this means that one serves as a reference for the other.

These processes can be carried out in two types of evaluation according to the moment in which it is going to be carried out and the objectives that are proposed to be carried out:

Ex-prior evaluation: as its name says, it is carried out before starting any type of operation, since its main objectives are: the impact, estimate costs to be used, feasibility of the project, scope of the objectives, among others. They will take us to know the context of the project.

Ex Post Evaluation: this is done during the execution or when the project is finalized. The main function of this type of evaluation is to study if it is feasible to continue with the project, guide the process or adapt and change the conditions of the same.

From the above we could say that the evaluation is responsible for making it possible to establish feedback processes, this to look for actions that serve in the future and to solve problems that may arise during the realization of any project.
